Introducing the Lacey Day Daybed

We’re delighted to introduce you to the latest product in the Mini beee range of garden furniture.
The Lacey Day Daybed is a cosy, spacious and stylish garden seat, which doubles up as a handy daybed. It provides the perfect place for children to play at building dens, and a snug spot for adults to chill out in. It’s ideal for anyone who is looking to get more use out of their garden.
The idea for the design of the Lacey Day first came about when one of Mini beee’s co-owners, Marjolein, went on a tour of Japan. She combined the inspiration that she gained from this trip, with the memories that she had of the traditional garden bench that stood in front of her Grandma's house. This fusion of different cultures and styles is what gave this daybed its iconic design.
In a nod to visual elements that are typical of the Japanese style, for this piece, we have incorporated clean lines, square shapes and natural materials.
The colours which are most commonly used in Japanese fashion and furnishings are neutral shades of white, beige and black. Green is also commonly used, and it is classified as a neutral colour itself, because of the Japanese love for nature.
This preference for elegant and simple design touches is closely related to the Japanese term “Ma”. This term means space, silence and emptiness. We’ve thought about this concept closely, and carefully applied it to each of the key design elements of this daybed.
The clean design of the neutral cushion colors and the black finish give the daybed a quintessentially Japanese feel. These minimalist elements are then paired with a sturdy backrest, which is pure old-school Dutch design.
The spacious seating (or ‘lying’, as the case may be) area easily transforms any terrace into a cosy outdoor area, with its own special atmosphere. With the Lacey Day, you can choose from a range of neutral colours which are designed to suit any type of outdoor environment.
The cushions are remarkably soft to the touch, while still being completely resistant to the wear and tear of your romping little ones! Plus, thanks to the breathable, water-repellent filling, the comfortable outdoor cushions are able to withstand a little rain.
Marjolein, the co-owner of Mini beee, expressed her delight at the new addition to our range, and commented further on her input into its design.
“During my trip through Japan, I got the idea to create the Lacey Day, which combined Japanese style with a solid Dutch garden bench. So, we designed this little daybed. The combination of the two design styles makes it safe and very strong but also beautiful.”
